The peacock is a large, colorful bird, known for its striking iridescent plumage. There are three species of peafowl:

Indian Peafowl : The most well-known species, the males (peacocks) have a stunning fan of tail feathers with eye-like spots, which they display during courtship. These feathers can reach up to 6 feet in length. The females (peahens) are generally brown and less colorful. Indian peafowl are native to the Indian subcontinent but have been introduced to many other parts of the world.

Green peafall.: Native to Southeast Asia, this species has a more metallic green coloration, and both males and females are more similar in appearance compared to the Indian peafowl.

Congo Peafowl (Afropavo congensis): Found in the Congo Basin, this species is smaller and lacks the extravagant tail feathers of the other two. The male Congo peafowl is more brightly colored than the female but is still not as flashy as the Indian or Green peafowl.

Peacocks are often associated with beauty and pride because of their elaborate displays. They are omnivorous, feeding on insects, plants, and small animals, and are known for their loud, distinctive calls.
