Giraffes are the tallest land animals, native to the savannas and open woodlands of Africa.

Known for their long necks and legs, they can reach heights of up to 18 feet. Giraffes primarily feed on leaves from tall trees, particularly acacias, using their prehensile tongues, which can be up to 18 inches long. Despite their height, giraffes are surprisingly fast and can run at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour over short distances. Their unique coat patterns, which are like human fingerprints, help camouflage them from predators. Social animals, they live in loose herds and have relatively few natural predators due to their size.
