India Gate is a prominent landmark in New Delhi, India.

The India Gate is also famous for the Amar Jawan Jyoti, or the Flame of the Immortal Soldier, which was added in 1971 after the Indo-Pakistani War. This flame burns in memory of the soldiers who lost their lives in defense of the nation.

India Gate is situated along Rajpath, a ceremonial avenue that leads to Rashtrapati Bhavan (the President’s House), and is a popular place for both locals and tourists, especially during the evenings when it is illuminated. The area around it is also a favored spot for picnics and gatherings.

The monument was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and was completed in 1931. Standing at 42 meters tall, it resembles the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
